I had to force the geometry with an hd= line. See the bootprompt howto
for the various formats

I've never been able to do this in Linux or otherwise. The 2nd flash stops
the bios configuring the hard disk so it becomes a PCMCIA device and works
fine via pcmcia-cs but not directly
